Traditional Doll, San Pablo Tamahú

Handcrafted doll. In this location the woman wears a soft embroidered blouse (güipil) that falls loosely on the cut and it is folded only at the waist, thus avoiding the need to wear a girdle. The headdress that wraps the hair is a rectangular canvas of red cloth, which is known as bac-bal and is used only by married women in the community. A single woman only wears two braids tied with colored ribbons, as dictated by local customs.
